A painted rainbow

A Message from the Community Council Chair

Tuesday, 14th April 2020

Times are truly unprecedented. The Covid19 virus has affected and changed the world over the last few months in many ways.

To those who are ill my thoughts and hopes are with you. To those who have lost loved ones, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and those who have also been touched by the loss.

For those who are free from the virus, your future and the future of your families and friends is in your hands. For every one’s safety including your own, please continue to follow government advice, on social distancing. Shop sensibly and continue to look out for your neighbours whilst remaining safe at all times. For those who may be vulnerable or need help, we encourage you to contact Ashford Borough Council on their hotline number 331111 then press 4 or go to www.ashford.gov.uk/coronavirus or e-mail: help@ashford.gov.uk

My gratitude and hope goes out to those who care for others, those in the NHS and many other caring industries, those working tirelessly in food shops, and those maintaining supply lines for foods, medical services and more. Not forgetting, of course, our emergency services and military, not only Police, Fire and Ambulance services but also services such as Border Force and Highways England. I thank you all and hope you stay safe throughout.

Locally, I applaud the efforts of the voluntary and charitable groups such as the Salvation Army, providing food delivery and distribution services to the needy and most vulnerable in the SWAN area. We will support them practically and financially where we can.

Again, for your safety and the safety of others please continue to practice those procedures advised by HM Government and the NHS and stay safe.
